How can I find out what my neighborhood school is?
Your neighborhood or "home" school is determined by your home address. Every residential address lies within the attendance area of a public elementary, middle, and high school. To find out yours, go to www.lausd.net and click on the "School Finder" link.  

What is the age requirement for students entering kindergarten?
To enter kindergarten, a child must turn 5 on or before December 2^nd of the year of enrollment.

How do I enroll my child?

After determining your school of residence, you may register your child at the school, typically in the spring before fall enrollment. You must show proof of residence (utility bill, rental or lease agreement), and proof of age (the child's birth certificate, passport or baptismal certificate).   

What immunizations does my child need?
LAUSD and the Los Angeles County Health Dept regulations also require complete health and immunization records for incoming kindergarteners.

Can I enroll my child in a school other than my neighborhood school?
There are other options for enrollment. For Walgrove, that option is called
Open Enrollment.

What is Open Enrollment and how do I apply?
This program allows parents to apply for designated "open enrollment" seats at specified campuses. This is a viable option for those interested in attending Walgrove who don't live in
the attendance area.

This short application process typically occurs during the month of May, but you may pre-register for open enrollment at our Kinder Round-Up on April 11, 2008.

If the number of applications received is less than the number of available seats, all the students who applied to that school are invited to enroll.  However, if the applications are greater than the number of seats, a drawing is held to determine the students given seats.  If there is still space available after the deadline, the school will usually be able to continue registering open enrollees up until the second Friday of the new school year. 

If Walgrove is my home school, when can I enroll for Fall 2008?

Parents may pre-enroll beginning at the Kinder Round Up on April 11, 2008, through the 2007-2008 school year.  Please note that the school will be closed for summer vacation during the month of July, but enrollment will resume in August.
