ELVIA (MIRELES) PEREZ, First Grade Teacher
Elvia (Mireles) Perez, Venice High School Alumni, was born and raised in the West Los Angeles area. She grew up attending the local public schools in our neighborhood.  Mrs. Hayashi, the Principal, was actually one of her kindergarten teachers.

Elvia has always loved working with children.  She began her work in the education field by tutoring and volunteering at various school locations.  Elvia received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University Northridge.Her Teaching Credential was also obtained at CSUN from Michael D Eisner’s College of Education.
She has taught first grade at Walgrove for over four years years.  She did an exceptional job representing Walgrove at the Language Arts Cadre in her first year of teaching. Her bilingual skills have been a great attribute in assisting with translations at school events. She is very creative and is always trying to find new ways to promote learning using different teaching modalities.She strongly believes that in order to create life long learners you must provide an engaging classroom environment for the children to feel safe and comfortable in.
