STAR 2010-2011
The main STAR program offered is a grant program that covers all children K-5th. The program is free of charge and students are asked to attend 5 days a week until pickup time (after 5pm). The STAR program runs until 6pm Monday through Friday. The grant program includes Homework help, Math and Literacy enrichment (both in line with state standards), as well as Enrichment classes. Such Enrichment classes have included Dance, Theater, Chess, Art, and Science.
STAR also offers classes for a fee in the NOVA program. The NOVA program has included such classes as Woodworking, Comic Book Drawing, Gymnastics, and RockSTAR where students learn to use real instruments. Classes are offered in 7-9 week sessions and there are four sessions each year.
