HAPPENINGS AND HELP WANTEDS FOR WEEK OF: FEBRUARY 28-MARCH 5, 2011

Monday, February 28:  Morning Assembly, 8am, The Quad.  Because Friday's Assembly was canceled due to rain, we will hold the assembly on Monday morning after drop-off.  We will have a coffee cart and be making some exciting announcements about Annual Fund Week, so stick around!  Come and find out which class won the participation drive!

Monday, February 28:  Visit from Dr. John Deasy.  Dr. John Deasy, the next LAUSD Superintendent (he will take over on April 15), will be at our campus on Monday morning for a tour of Walgrove.  Let's show him our Walgrove spirit and make it a rocking morning!

Monday, February 28:  African American Legacy Museum, 8:15am-2:30pm, Auditorium.  Come view Walgrove students' participation in February's African American History Month with their displays of projects and artwork.

Tuesday, March 1: REGULAR Dismissal.  School will dismiss at 2:30pm.  Early dismissal Tuesdays will resume next Tuesday, March 8.

2:30pm  General Preparations -- Meet in the library to tie fishing line to decorations and prepare them for display.  Bring fishing line if you have some.

3:30pm  Kinder Preparations -- Meet in the kinder yard to help hang decorations.  Contact: Laura Groppe (laura@girlsintelligenceagency.com)

5:30pm  General Decorations -- Meet in the quad in front of the library to get decorations and hang them in your assigned areas.

Wednesday, March 2: Wacky Wednesday at Walgrove!! Celebrate our best Annual Fund Week ever with over 50% participation from Walgrove families!  Wear wacky clothes (pajamas, backwards/mismatched clothing, wacky designs/patterns)!  Do your hair in wacky styles!  Enjoy a wacky day!

Odyssey -- A Night with Jim Heimann, 6-8pm, Auditorium.  Doors open at 5pm for appetizers and social.  Join author and Taschen Books Editor, Jim Heimann, on a visual tour through Southern California's via rare, odd, and unusual images and facts culled from his rare, odd, and unusual archives.  Tickets: $18. HELP WANTED

Website Manager Needed: We are going into March and we remain desperate for someone to step up and manage our website.  It is really NOT that taxing a job and simply requires someone who will keep things updated on a weekly basis -- the calendar, announcements, upcoming yearbook administration, et al.  Thus far, a handful of us have cobbled together a team (which includes your two slightly tech-challenged co-presidents -- yikes!) but we really need one person who will coordinate and be the point person.  If you are willing to serve the community this way, we would love to hear from you and are happy to answer any questions.  Many thanks, Sarah Reimers (walgrovesarah@gmail.com)
