Tuesday, May 24ZJ's Shop Out, 5pm-8pm, ZJ's Boarding House (2619 Main Street, Santa Monica, CA 90405). First-time ever Shop Out event at ZJ Boarding House (zjboardinghouse.com). Get all your summer essentials and help out Walgrove at the same time! Giveaways, snacks, drinks, and special appearance by The Ghouls -- bring the whole family to this fun evening! Saturday, May 28Pacific Division Police Station Tour, 10am-12pm, 12312 Culver Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90066. Visit our Police Station and get to know our officers. These are the very ones who patrol our streets and would come out to help us in an emergency. Have some donuts, ask questions, tour the station. $10 per child with parent or guardian. Monday, May 30Memorial Day -- SCHOOL HOLIDAY!

 

Saturday, June 4Walgrove Walk-A-Thon, 1pm-5pm, Walgrove Campus. In addition to our kids walking there will be jumpers, food, music, a raffle, and much more. This is an event you won't want to miss! Packets were sent home last week. If you did not get one please find copies in the office by the FOW bulletin board. Contact brandyoeser@yahoo.com if you have questions or would like to help. We need volunteers to work booth shifts, setup/clean-up and much more!

 

Tuesday, June 7Career Day, 8:15am-2:30pm, Walgrove Campus. A favorite all around. The kids get to learn about some cool careers! Firemen, doctors, animal trainers and more come to Walgrove to share their stories with the kids. Contact: Michelle Dean (mbdean72@gmail.com).

Sunday, July 17Afternoon Parent/Child Tea Party, 1:30pm-4:00pm, Home of Toni Vera-Martinez. $30 for parent/child couple, $10 for each additional child. Grab your carpetbag and step back in time for Tea. Get dressed up and bring your child(ren) to a Tea Party with traditional tea sandwiches, scones, hot savories, dessert, and tea. Feel what it was like for grandma when she used silver and china to serve scrumptious treats. Sit down, chat, eat, drink and relax the afternoon away.

 

Thursday, September 15Back-to-School Moms and Muffins, 7:30am, Ross Home. $10 per Mom. Come early wiht the kids for drop-off and enjoy coffee and muffins at the home of 2nd grade mom, Melissa Ross.

 

Tuesday, September 20Back-to-School Dads, Donuts and Drop Off, 7:30am, Auditorium. $10 per family. Dads' morning to drop off at school! Send them out the door early to come with the kiddos and have FOW-sponsored donuts and coffee at school meet the new Dads.

 

Saturday, September 24Tacos and Tequilas Party, 5pm, Ramsey/Grippe Home. $35 per person, adults only. Enjoy great tacos and some fine tequila at the neighborhood home of First Grade Parents Jeff Grippe and Gingery Ramsey.

HELP WANTED

FOW Officer Nominations Needed! We need more nominations for the FOW officer positions! The official slate of ACCEPTED nominations will be sent out one week before the June FOW Meeting. If you would like a detailed description of officer duties/responsibilities sent to you, please contact: Julie Dair (juliedair@yahoo.com). Please fill out and submit nomination forms in the box in the Main Office.

 

Studio Help Needed: The Studio teachers could really use our help with keeping the Studio neat and clean! If you can spare the time, they need 3~4 parents to help clean up after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays for fifteen minutes to do the following: (1) sweep the floor, (2) wipe the tables, (3) rinse and dry the paint brushes, (4) take dry paintings off the drying racks, and (5) sharpen pencils. Contact: Ms. Ariel Park (arielpark@verizon.net) and Ms. Julia Gonzalez (juliag@gmail.com) if you can help out!

Cornerstone Banner Campaign: Please help us to reach local businesses and ask them to get involved in supporting our wonderful neighborhood school. We're launching a "Cornerstone Banner" campaign to honor businesses that support our school. Do you know a realtor, local shop owner or service provider? Please ask if they'd like to participate! Flyers about this program with details and printed invitations to participate went home in your child's folder. If you need extras, they'll be on the FOW shelf in the office. Thanks!
