Friends of Walgrove Silent Auction Raffle: Winners will be chosen by random raffle drawing held at the Silent Auction event on April 30.  Winners need not be present to win.  Raffle tickets are only $2.00 each.  The prizes include: (1) Grand Prize: iPad, (2) Second Prize: Wii System and (3)Third Prize: iPod.  Pizza party for the classroom with the most sales!  Top-selling staff member will win a gift certificate for a much deserved massage!  Contact Francine Nellis (francine.nellis@me.com) to obtain more raffle tickets to sell or with any questions.

Sports Mania Camp:  Walgrove students are being offered a special rate of $200 per week if they sign up by APRIL 30.  You can register online and find more information atwww.sportsmaniacamp.com.  Or, if you have questions you can e-mail Stacey Foxson atinfo@sportsmania.com or call her at (310) 289-2111.  They are so happy to have a Venice location here at Walgrove!

  • First Day back from Spring Break -- WELCOME BACK!
  • Monday Walgrove Gardening, 1-4pm, Walgrove Learning Garden.  Join us on Monday afternoons, 1-4pm (or some part of 1-4pm) and get your gardening fix!  Bring gloves, hat, water, and tools if you have some.  See you there!  Emiko Kuwata (310-418-7791).

 

Tuesday, April 26:

  • Garden-Funding Succulent Sale, 7:30am-8:15am, Morningside Gate.  Beautiful potted succulents will be available for purchase to help fund the ever-developing garden program at Walgrove.  Have you seen the Walgrove Garden?  Our beautiful garden has been newly expanded and gated with a terrific outdoor classroom, revamped greenhouse, composting program and of course, raised planters bursting with vegetables.  Ruth Handel (ruthhandel1@mac.com).

  • Wednesday Walgrove Gardening Meeting, 12:00pm-12:45pm, Walgrove Learning Garden (Room 20 if it rains).   Come join Master Gardener, Marianne Brown, teachers, and parents for a weekly Walgrove Garden Meeting.  See you in the garden, Emiko Kuwata (emkuwata@gmail.com).

Friday, April 29Yearbook Whole-School Picture Day.  The Yearbook Committee will be taking the annual whole school photograph on this day, so try not to be absent that day so your student can be included in the picture of the year!  The Yearbook Team.  

 

Saturday, April 30:

  • Mar Vista Green Garden Tour, Walgrove Garden.  Our very own Walgrove Garden is proudly featured on the Mar Vista Green Garden Tour on Saturday, April 30.  This is a fantastic, kid-friendly, FREE local event.  Please be sure to come by and see the beauty that is Walgrove.  Succulents and tomato plants also available for donation on Saturday at the garden.  Enjoy a day of garden touring with the kids!  Ruth Handel (ruthhandel1@mac.com).
  • "Swingin' Social" 5th Annual Silent Auction,5pm-11pm, Elian Home.  We hope you're as excited as we are for this super-fun event -- and don't forget, for $35 a ticket, you get dinner, drinks, dessert, great music (dancing!?) -- a proper grown-up night, all for the benefit for our kids!  So book those babysitters, and polish up the dancing shoes!  Silent Auction Co-Chairs: Tracey Becker (tracey@beachfrontfilms.com) and Teresa O'Brien (sowelu33@aol.com).
