HAPPENINGS AND HELP WANTEDS FOR: AUGUST 2011

Saturday, August 27: Kindergarten Playdate, 10:00am-12:00pm, Kindergarten Yard.  Incoming kinders will come play on the yard and meet their new classmates.  Join us for some snacks, some art, and some all around good fun.  Rising first-grade parents especially encouraged to attend since you know best what kindergarten was like with it fresh in your minds from last year.  Of course, ALL parents are welcome!  If you can help out with manning stations (welcome, snacks & drinks, arts & crafts, FOW, Annual Fund) or with helping with set-up or clean-up, please contact: Sarah Reimers (walgrovesarah@gmail.com)

Wednesday, August 31: Teachers' First Day Back Welcome Breakfast, 7:30am-8:30am, Teachers' Lounge.

SEPTEMBER

• Wednesday, September 7: First Day of School!
• Wednesday, September 7: Kinder Parents Welcome Reception, 8:00am, Quad/Teachers Lounge/Library.  Meet the Kinder parents and enjoy some bagels and coffee to welcome them on their first day at school.  
• Saturday, September 10 - Sunday, September 11: Ralphs Cards Sign-up
• Tuesday, September 13: First Friends of Walgrove (FOW) Meeting of the Year! 6:30pm, Library.  Childcare will be provided for $3.00/child.  WE WILL HAVE ELECTIONS during this first meeting.  
• Week of September 19-23: Annual Fund Kick-Off Drive
• Tuesday, September 27: Back-to-School Night and Book Fair!  

OCTOBER

• Saturday, October 1: Whale-of-a-Sale Yard Sale, 8:00am-5:00pm.
• Saturday, October 15: FriendRaiser Kick-Off Walgroovy Event.
• Halloween Spooktacular Parade (date and details will be provided later).

There are still some open spots for the following upcoming Walgroovy Parties!  If you didn't get a chance to sign up at the auction, now's your chance!  Don't miss these fun events for both you and your kids.  Please contact Walgroovy Team Co-Chairs, Toni Vera-Martinez (eyeler@verizon.net) or Lesly Hall (leslyhall@gmail.com), if you are interested in attending an event.  All checks should be made out to "Friends of Walgrove" and dropped in the FOW box in the Main Office or to me.  Please make a note on the check which events you are paying for.

Thursday, September 15: Back-to-School Moms and Muffins, 7:30am, Ross Home.  $10 per Mom.  Come early with the kids for drop-off and enjoy coffee and muffins at the home of 3rd grade mom, Melissa Ross. 

Tuesday, September 20: Back-to-School Dads, Donuts and Drop Off, 7:30am, Auditorium.  $10 per family.  Dads' morning to drop off at school!  Send them out the door early to come with the kiddos and have FOW-sponsored donuts and coffee at school meet the new Dads.

Saturday, September 24: Tacos and Tequilas Party, 5pm, Ramsey/Grippe Home.  $35 per person, adults only.  Enjoy great tacos and some fine tequila at the neighborhood home of 2nd Grade Parents Jeff Grippe and Ginger Ramsey.
