Tuesday, October 4:

  • EARLY Dismissal, 1:30pm.
  • FOW Meeting, Library.  6:30pm-8:00pm.  Childcare will be provided as usual in Room 5, $3/child or $5/family.  Contact: Sarah Reimers, FOW President (walgrovesarah@gmail.com).

 

Wednesday, October 5:

  • WEDNESDAY PACKETS GOING HOME!  Keep an eye out for flyers about details for upcoming exclusive WHALE-OF-A-SALE FIRE SALE for Walgrove!
  • Farmers' Market, 2:00pm-4:00pm, Morningside Gate.  $25/bag with $2 of every bag sold going to Walgrove.  Orders must be placed by Sunday night at:info@csacalifornia.org.  To find out what's in this week's bag at:www.csacalifornia.org.  For questions about food or to get more involved, contact: Kali - info@csacalifornia.org.     

 

Thursday, October 6Walgroovy Event: Back-to-School Moms and Muffins (moms only please!), 7:30am-9:00am, Ross Home.  $10 per Mom.  Come early and enjoy coffee and muffins at the home of Third Grade mom, Melissa Ross.  All checks should be made out to "Friends of Walgrove" and dropped in the FOW box in the Main Office.  Please make a note on the check which events you are paying for.  Contacts: Walgroovy Team Co-Chairs, Toni Vera-Martinez (eyeler1@yahoo.com) or Lesly Hall (leslyhall@gmail.com).

 

Friday, October 7:

  • School Governance Parent Orientation, 8:15am, Auditorium.  This will be an orientation to: CEAC (Compensantory Education Advisory Council), ELAC (English Language Advisory Council), and SSC (School Site Council).  Contact: John Fischer (jfischer@serve.net).
  • Whale-of-a-Sale Fire Sale for Walgrove!  8:15am-11:00am, The Blue Lagoon (gate into the Blue Lagoon is between Rooms 6 and 11).  It's the exclusive Walgrove-only Whale-of-a-Sale Fire Sale!  Every item $1 each!  Clothing $5 a bag!  Fabulous Walgrove swag available for sale!  Buy a cup of coffee, munch some goodies, and shop for the benefit of our kids!  All proceeds go to FOW.  Contact: Claudia Trevisan (trevisan00@hotmail.com).

 

 

 

HELP WANTEDS

Wednesday, October 5: Volunteers needed to:

  • Gather and take inventory on Emergency Kits in all the classrooms
  • Organize and tidy the clean clothes under the bed in the Nurse's Office
  • Wash the bed linens in the Nurse's Office twice a month if possible
  • Donate twin blankets for the Nurse's Office

Studio Lab Needs Help!  We need a shelf painted and the wheels on a cart replaced.  Please e-mail Ms. Ariel Park (arielpark@verizon.net) or Ms. Julia Gonzales (juliag@gmail.com) with your available days/times and they will work it out with you.  Thank you!

Walgrove Yearbook Photos Needed!  Do you have photos of the latest Walgrove events (Back-to-School Night, Mrs. Nelson's Book Fair, Whale-of-a-Sale Yard Sale) or shots of your class?  We are always in need of photos of school happenings.  Please label (with name of event/classroom) and e-mail your photos throughout the year to the Walgrove Yearbook Team at: walgroveyearbook@gmail.com.

 

 

LOOKING AHEAD

Saturday, October 15Build a Bench!  9:30am-4:00pm, Cafeteria.  Calling all skilled builders: bring your circular saw and drill, so we'll have enough people to finish all 12 benches/planters in one day.  Contact: Emiko Kuwata: (emkuwata@gmail.com).

Monday, October 31Walgrove's Halloween Spooktacular!  1:00pm, The Quad.  Parade of Costumes, Pumpkin Display, and a live performance by THE GHOULS!
