Friends of Walgrove

uniting children, teachers and parents

Lisa Laichtman - Fourth Grade Teacher

I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara where I received a B.A. degree in Health Studies.

Before Walgrove, I was a Science Teacher at Kenter Canyon Elementary School. Since coming to Walgrove in 1996, I have taught first, second, third, and fourth grade.

I believe that children learn best by doing things. In particular, I think that children learn best when they create or experience something that is memorable or important to them in some way. Field trips, building, creating, drawing, painting, acting out, exploring, singing, collaborating with friends, and making messes are all great ways to learn.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I have traveled to Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, The Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Israel, The Bahamas, several Caribbean Islands, and throughout the United States.
