Walgroovy Gatherings

Interested in spending time with other Walgrove families and raising funds for our kids? Check out and sign up for upcoming Walgroovy Gatherings! Walgroovy Gatherings are groups of social events that raise funds for the Friends of Walgrove booster club.

The money raised by Walgroovy Gatherings goes directly to Friends of Walgrove to help fund major aspects of our school such as the Studio Lab Program, classroom aides, a library aide, the PE Program, computer labs, teacher supplies and professional development.

These basic components of our children’s education would not exist at all if not for the generosity of our Walgrove community.

We greatly appreciate the many host families who have offered their time, effort and money to create these parties. By being involved in Walgroovy Gatherings, either as a host or as an attendee, you will be strengthening our school community while raising much needed funds for our school.

We hope you find an event perfectly suited for your family! When making out checks to “Friends of Walgrove,” please make sure you write the Walgroovy you are paying for on the check. You may drop your checks in the FOW box on the wall in the Main Office, or give them to Toni, mother of Dogen Eyeler. Again, please make a note on the check of which events you are paying for.

Thursday, September 15: Back-to-School Moms and Muffins, 7:30am, Ross Home. $10 per Mom.  Come early with the kids for drop-off and enjoy coffee and muffins at the home of Third Grade mom, Melissa Ross.

Tuesday, September 20: Back-to-School Dads, Donuts and Drop Off, 7:30am, Auditorium. $10 per family. Dads' morning to drop off at school!  Send them out the door early to come with the kiddos and have FOW-sponsored donuts and coffee at school meet the new Dads.

Saturday, September 24: Tacos and Tequilas Party, 5pm, Ramsey/Grippe Home. $35 per person, adults only. Enjoy great tacos and some fine tequila at the neighborhood home of Second Grade Parents Jeff Grippe and Ginger Ramsey.

Saturday, October 22: Halloween Party, 2:00-6:00pm, Home of Laura Groppe. $15 per person. It’s Halloween! Have your family dress up a week early and celebrate together. Your kids can do Halloween crafts and visit a HAUNTED HOUSE. Bring a bottle of wine with a creative Halloween label and join in a Creepy Wine Tasting. We will all have autumn foods to munch on. Have a fun family night!

Friday, November 4: Lakers Party. THIS WILL BE RESCHEDULED DUE TO LAKERS GAME CANCELLATION.

Saturday, November 8: Wine Tasting, 6:30-10:00pm, Home of Gian Luca and Claudia Trevisan. $40 per person, adults only. Entertain in style without going broke. Find delicious and reasonably priced wines to compliment your meals and entertain your holiday guests. Learn from a local sommelier, mingle with grown ups and get your drink on! Gourmet appetizers and artisan pizzas provided by Chef Gian Luca Trevisan.

Friday, December 2: First Fridays on Abbot Kinney, 5:30-9:30pm, Home of Paul and Jenny Roman. $25 per child. So you’ve been wanting to see what First Fridays is all about? Drop your kids off at the Roman’s Abbot Kinney neighborhood home where they will play, watch movies and eat dinner. Before you walk down to Abbot Kinney, watch the sunset from the Roman’s rooftop deck while sipping a cool beverage with Walgrove families. Your kids will be taken care of while you enjoy date night. You might even get in a little holiday shopping!

Friday, December 3: Kids Movie Night and Parents Night Out, 5:00-8:00pm, multiple locations. $25 per child. Drop your kids off for a party! You get three hours of babysitting, dinner and popcorn for your child, and loads of fun. Go out and have a great time! Go shop! Go eat! Go nowhere! We've got the kids. You have a choice of parties. Parties for girls, boys and a party for all. Choose the location that is best for you. Siblings can choose to go to the same or to different parties.

Saturday, December 10: Ornament Decorating Party, 5:00-10:00pm, Home of Toni and Jerry Eyeler. $40 per person. Come share some winter holiday cheer with the Eyeler family. Decorate ornaments for your family. Enjoy a big dinner, dessert and meet some new friends! Let’s sit by the fire and relax.

Sunday, January 29: Champagne Brunch, 11:30am-3:30pm, Home of Laura Groppe. $40 per person, adults only. Is the local Sunday brunch too far away and overcrowded? Well now you can sip Champagne and have a civilized brunch with Walgrove parents. Peace and quiet and some bubbly too!

Saturday, February 25: Korean BBQ, 5:00-9:00pm, Home of Mark and Julie Sim. $40 per person, adults only. Not so familiar with Korean BBQ? You don’t need to drive all the way to Koreatown for an authentic experience. Enjoy a home-style experience on the Westside with The Sims. You will be craving it once a week!

Saturday, March 17: St. Patrick’s Day Party, 5:00-9:00pm, Home of Brigid McBride and John Slavin. $25 per adult, $15 per child. It’s St. Patrick’s Day! What could be better than celebrating the Irish way with Walgrove Families? That’s right, a traditional Irish Family Party of Irish music, dance, food and drink with Irish Walgrovians.
