Fellow Walgroovians,

I knew nothing about the Shakespeare Club until last year when my children came home and told me about the performance they'd seen of The Twelfth Night. I had no idea this program was going on nor what it entailed until... my daughter entered 3rd grade and decided to sign up for the audition process.

What I have learned since then is that the children honor both the program and Ms. Ryan with the utmost respect and devotion. They are told from the get-go that if they miss any of the 18 club days they will be dropped. Most of them take this very seriously. The lessons of commitment and teamwork offered in this extraordinary extracurricular activity are invaluable. We are so lucky to have a soul such as Mel Ryan who pulls the self esteem from their little toes right up through the tops of their heads and hearts. She is such an asset to our little school, teaching all the right messages. As they say in their daily motto "if I can do Shakespeare, I can do anything"! Who of us doesn't want our kid to shout to the world that they can do anything? And with this program, they get just a little closer to that dream. PLEASE support our Shakespeare Club. PLEASE come see what they do. PLEASE know that this program makes a huge impact! It works and our kids are better for it.
